Across nine frontier AI models, only 3 of 540 government mission reports met every evaluation criterion.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, UNITED STATES, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Today micro1 introduced MissionReport, a benchmark developed with current and former U.S. government and military professionals to evaluate whether AI can identify, prioritize, and communicate the information commanders and senior leaders need to make decisions. The launch builds on the company’s U.S. government model training initiative.
AI models can get the facts right and still miss what matters for sensitive U.S. government use cases. MissionReport tests that gap through expert-written tasks spanning weekly activity updates, after-action reports, and program status reports. Each requires models to transform working files into a finished report for a reader with specific priorities and limited time.
Overall scores ranged from 54.3% to 64.1%, with Gemini 4 Argon achieving the highest score. Models handled basic formatting well. However, deciding what information to include and explaining what the facts mean together accounted for 67–77% of each model’s lost points.
The failures were concrete. In one commander’s weekly report task, every model failed to lead with the issue that required the commander’s help. In a program status task, nearly every report omitted that the cause of a gap between test results remained under review. Some models assigned an overall program rating that no source provided.
These findings highlight the judgment required for useful mission reporting: identifying what needs action, what the evidence supports, what remains unresolved, and what to leave out.
MissionReport provides a framework for measuring those capabilities and identifying where further model training is needed.
