Hazlo combines AI, domain sales data, and market intelligence to help owners value, research, brand, and find buyers for valuable domain names.
STATELINE, NV, UNITED STATES, September 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Brendan Smith, entrepreneur, technology founder and longtime internet business builder, announced today that HAZLO® has been federally registered as a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, with the registration granted March 22, 2026.
Hazlo.ai is an AI-powered domain intelligence platform built to help domain investors, entrepreneurs, founders and brands better understand, evaluate, develop and sell domain names.
The platform was created around a problem Smith experienced firsthand over nearly three decades of acquiring domains and building internet businesses: there are very few tools that provide a comprehensive and transparent approach to domain valuation.
Unlike traditional assets with established market prices, domain names can be highly subjective. Ultimately, a domain is worth what someone is willing to pay. Hazlo does not attempt to present an AI-generated number as an absolute value. Instead, its approach combines domain sales data, comparable sales, keyword and market intelligence, domain characteristics, brandability analysis and artificial intelligence to provide a more informed assessment of potential value.
“What’s a great domain actually worth? That’s a surprisingly difficult question to answer,” said Brendan Smith, Founder and CEO of Hazlo. “There isn’t a single correct price for a domain. It’s ultimately worth what someone is willing to pay. Our goal with Hazlo is to bring together the best available sales data, market intelligence and technology to help people make a better-informed decision.”
Transparency is a central part of Hazlo’s approach to valuation.
Rather than highlighting only successful appraisals, Hazlo publicly analyzes both its successes and its misses through its Market Analysis platform. By comparing its valuation models against actual domain sales, Hazlo gives users the ability to see where its technology performs well and where it does not.
“We’ve always believed that if you’re going to build a valuation platform, you have to be willing to show people when you’re wrong—not just when you’re right,” Smith said. “AI isn’t perfect, and domain valuation is inherently subjective. We think being transparent about the misses is just as important as showing the wins.”
Smith has been acquiring domain names since the 1990s, but his approach has focused on using domains as foundations for businesses, products and brands rather than simply holding domains for resale. Domains acquired by Smith and his team have historically been connected to projects, companies and technology products they were developing.
Smith founded Motive Interactive, a performance marketing and technology company, in 2004. Motive has been recognized five times on the Inc. 500/5000 list. His experience building internet businesses and digital products, combined with decades of working with domain names, ultimately led to the creation of Hazlo.ai.
What began as an effort to build a better domain appraisal tool has expanded into a broader domain intelligence platform.
Beyond valuation, Hazlo is developing tools that help domain owners identify and research potential buyers, organize prospects and manage outreach. The goal is to connect domain valuation with the next step in the process: determining who may actually have a strategic reason to acquire a particular domain.
“Knowing what a domain might be worth is only part of the problem,” Smith said. “The next question is who might actually want it. We’re building Hazlo to help domain owners answer both questions—understand the asset and find the opportunity.”
The HAZLO® trademark registration marks another step in the development of Hazlo as the company expands from AI-powered domain appraisal into a broader platform for domain valuation, market intelligence, branding, buyer discovery and domain sales.
