The product line follows USDA’s August 24, 2026 press release, “USDA Announces Harvest to Hallways Initiative to Invest in Child Nutrition Programs.” The announcement by Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. outlined the next phase of the Trump Administration’s work to Make America Healthy Again. It emphasized healthier, more nutrient-dense school meals, support for American farmers, local procurement and school nutrition investments.

“Every school meal should make a child healthier,” Secretary Kennedy stated in the USDA announcement.

Sample boards display check boxes beside fruits and vegetables because school food service teams can often confirm their origins through supplier, distributor and purchasing information. Staff can add a checkmark when a verified item is offered and erase or move it when the menu or product source changes.

Schools are not limited to fruits and vegetables. Green Edge Systems can add printed boxes or icons to entrées, proteins, grain sides, milk or any other food group. Digital menu boards may be updated centrally by computer across multiple schools, making frequent item-level checkmark changes impractical. USDA stated that Harvest to Hallways includes up to $70 million in school cafeteria infrastructure investments, efforts to expand local procurement and up to $25 million in additional FY 2026 Farm to School Grants. The announcement also addressed the Local Option School Procurement Program, healthier-meal practices and nutrition research.

Schools considering grant funding may ask whether menu boards qualify as an educational, promotional or food-origin communication component of an eligible project.
