Fort Myers Naples, FL, October 8, 2026 — Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a state of emergency for 25 counties across Florida in anticipation of Tropical Storm Isaias. The declaration comes as the storm is projected to approach the northern Gulf Coast region.

The state of emergency is intended to provide resources and support for potential impacts related to the approaching tropical storm. Officials have not specified the exact names of the 25 counties included in the declaration, nor has the timeline for the storm’s projected landfall or its potential intensity been detailed in the announcement.

Preparations typically involve state agencies coordinating with local governments to ensure readiness. This includes measures such as activating emergency response teams, mobilizing resources, and communicating safety information to residents in affected areas. The specific actions being taken are contingent on the storm’s evolving forecast and its proximity to the Florida coastline.

The governor’s office has stated that the declaration allows for the suspension of certain regulations to facilitate emergency response and recovery efforts. Further details regarding evacuation orders or specific preparedness advisories are expected to be released as the storm’s path becomes clearer. The contractor’s name, involved in any potential preparations, was not provided. The fine amount, if any, related to this declaration was not provided.

Residents in the affected regions are advised to monitor official weather updates and local emergency management agency advisories. The exact nature of the storm’s impact, including potential rainfall, wind speeds, and coastal surge, remains under assessment by meteorological services.
